Smile and Laughter

My friends will tell you that I cannot tell a joke and although I am fun, arguably, that I am not funny.  I may be the only arguing that I am.  Admittedly, my sense of humor is slightly warped; nonetheless, laughter is important.

Last week I talked about maintaining perspective and context.  I identified strategies to help in real time such as stepping back and reassessing.  In time, I find smiling and laughter also re-balance me and keep things in the proper context.  It is an essential part of my process but I have difficulty doing it in real time.  In the moment, I am usually far from amused.  Nonetheless, I detest taking myself too serious; still, I do it way too often.

Centering on what is important daily is essential.  I have identified my must haves and my faith is a big part of this.   I count my blessings in depths of my friendships and my ability to keep it all in perspective, either in the moment or shortly thereafter.

Laughter peels back the layers of busy and stress and in that moment I am able to realize that everything is alright.  How do you keep things in perspective?
